The Sonic Self - >>||<<

The Sonic Self, sound-related art exhibition/event aims to develop an open audio-visual dialogue and to render significant similarities and differences in the growing confluence of sound and visual experiences in global contemporary culture; primarily through audio-visual exchange between; musicians, dj's, sound installation and video artists.

The Sonic Self exhibition and ongoing events will bridge disparate audio–visual practices around the world, pairing sound artists, musicians and visual artists in collaborations that expose and underscore shared multiplicities of languages and multi-cultural differences --- similarities.

This cross-fertilization of gentrified sound and vision will be manifested in sound installation, video/multimedia, DJ sampling and sound/performance art from countries such as: USA, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, UK, Italy, India, Japan, Bangladesh and Iran.

The Sonic Self project, curated by Jolanta Gora-Wita, Koshek Swaminathan, Anna Frants, Koan Jeff Baysa and Yaro Zajac will be traveling next to India-Chennai, Russia-St. Petersburg and Poland-Krakow after the Chelsea Art Museum, NYC exhibition/event.

'AUDIO/VISUAL IMMERSIONS'

>>||<< VIEW PAST SONIC SELF INTRODUCTION ->>

'The Sonic Self' exhibition and associated events curated by Jolanta Gora-Wita, examine the ever-increasing confluence of audio and visual experiences in contemporary culture. The exhibition and events bridge disparate audio practices by pairing sound artists, musicians and visual artists with the goal that their collaborative projects will expose and underscore their shared languages. This cross-fertilization of sound and visual art will be manifested in digital installation, video projection, DJ sampling and sound/performance art.
Most of the artworks were created site specifically for ‘The Sonic Self’ project at the Chelsea Art Museum, simply for the moment … and in these trying times…for as long as the moment lasts.
